Gary and Leni were there when Motor City rock and roll skyrocketed into stardom -- the Grande Ballroom -- MC5 -- Stooges -- and many more. They were major forces in making it happen -- their work captures the era! Look for this groundbreaking pictorial history, "DETROIT ROCKS!" in 2011.

Over the years many people have asked Gary Grimshaw and Leni Sinclair, "When are you going to have a book published?" So far, no publisher has come out of the woodwork and made them an offer, and this year, they've decided to take matters in their own hands and produce it themselves.
The title is
"DETROIT ROCKS! A Pictoral History of Detroit Rock and Roll" by Gary Grimshaw and Leni Sinclair. It will feature the best of Gary Grimshaw's artwork and Leni Sinclair's photographs from 1965 to 1975, including many never-before or rarely seen photos by Leni, and much of Gary's artwork that hasn't been seen in the last 30 or 40 years. Besides Gary's better-known Grande Ballroom posters, the book will include many designs for flyers, stationary, business cards, books, magazines, as well as LP covers, tickets, bumper stickers and much more.
Some of the topics of interest that will be covered include:
The Detroit Artists Workshop
The Grande Ballroom
The Love-In on Belle Isle
Detroit Rock 'n Roll Festival
The John Sinclair Freedom Rally
The White Panther/Rainbow People's Party
The MC5, Iggy Pop, Bob Seger, and many other bands and musicians
Trans-Love Energies
The Warren-Forest Sun
The Detroit Riots
The Free John Now campaign
The Trans-Love Lightshow
The Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festivals
And much more
You can own a picture book of classic Motor City posters and photos by culture icons Gary Grimshaw and Leni Sinclair! The book is in the works and will hopefully be available for purchase in early 2011. This book will be an event in itself!
